There’s no doubting that fine woodworker Daniel Fidanza has a talent for turning pieces of trees into pieces of sexual art. There’s an element in his exaggerated, stylised sculptures that we find reminiscent of African fertility statuettes, or early European venuses, but very much updated with stocks and restraints. Daniel believes that every work he produces is in fact a record of his own movements and gestures, and that the finished product is in fact a document of his own process more than a product in its own right. Judging by the almost obsessive finesse, we’d be inclined to agree.
